So this is what is at risk today with the evolution of Social Networking and more and more people on the internet. Phishing Schemes, email viruses, identity theft. All at the hands of tech savvy scam artists out to ruin a persons life. Social sites like Facebook and MySpace are being hacked into to steal vital information that is being freely posted.

A job search is never an easy task and can become frustrating at times but if you stay calm and don’t put pressure on yourself, it can lead to a successfull outcome.

As I mentioned before, I got out of the Marines over 8 years ago and had no one guiding me, assisting me or even caring about where I was going or worse what my resume looked like. I was told to buy a Resume Guide (If my combat boots had a parachute I think it was called) and that was where I would get the help to do my resume. This book was okay, but what can you get out of a book? It was a military retiree’s firsthand opinion of how a resume should be done and how the military experience should translate. Come to find out, it was of no use at all. It did not give me enough information on how to best format my resume or even how to fully translate what I did in the Marines into civilian terms.

What many people just getting involved in social networking are starting to figure out, slowly I may add, is that these websites are totally exposed portals on the internet. I read an article this week that criminals are starting to prey on Facebook and Twitter users. I am not sure how much attention this article received, but I think most would shrug it off thinking that they are not the culprits. I am on my social networks 5-6 times a day and I see the same incidents of total exposure.

I commented before on the “virtual handshake” involved with networking through the internet. You will hear me use that term time and time again because I fully believe that what you will see in the future will change the way we do business and meet new people. Most would say that nothing goes farther than a face to face conversation and the pressing of palms to truly make an acquaintance. I disagree.
